Platform Proliferation 3

After posting my content across numerous platforms, specifically Instagram and TikTok, I noticed that most of my engagements came through Instagram so dedicated most of my time towards that platform. It is where I spend most of my time not only posting but also engaging with others, commenting on their content and hearing their different perspectives which I then apply to my own content. Comparing and contrasting my content has helped me analyse and draw connections among commonalities (Moore 2023). This has provided me with great insight into how I can target my demographic better, allowed me to compare my work to other common trends and overall helped me promote the method in a more concise way as I go about producing my content.

I wanted to make my content as organic as possible, and whilst I compared myself to other creators who create similar posts to myself, I really wanted to provide a sense of uniqueness as well. As a health and wellness subject, the more truthful and mindful you are the better, that’s the best thing as I don’t have to play a particular role or put on a particular personality, it’s all truthful, accessible to anyone regardless of their race or current issues they may be facing.

Developing these skills across each platform has helped me relate more to my audience, and allowed my content to become more personalised. After 10 weeks of development, I’ve learnt a number of things, originally, I assumed TikTok would have had more engagements over Instagram however this was proved to be wrong as a majority of my engagements come through Instagram. I guess people in my age group have a certain bias towards platforms such as Tik-Tok, but with such an open and I guess accessible subject, it’s clear Instagram has more reach to multiple demographics as opposed to just one.

When I first set off on this project, I thought it was going to be quite difficult, producing the content, and tailoring it to specific target markets and demographics, however, I’ve realised that the more natural and normal you make the processes the easier it is to make fun and engaging content. I practice the Wim Hof Method every day and the whole concept of the method is basically a form of meditation, adopting that mindset when creating has allowed me to create freely and let the algorithms do their work. I’ve had lots of fun doing it and am excited to see where it leads.
