After countless weeks of content generation, constant refining, chopping and changing, I’ve learned a lot over these last few weeks and months when developing content for my DA. I’ve learnt how to go about my work and what is more engaging for my audience as well as how to engage with it myself by actively doing it along the journey.
It’s important to make my content inclusive for all, particularly with a subject such as the Wim Hof Method that’s so universal and anyone can engage with it. Most of my posts are derived from me talking about my experiences doing the method, advising people on how to partake in it as well and being a guide for people. I aim to make my content inclusive for all, particularly with health and wellness, it’s something that everyone should be able to engage with. I take time out to read people’s comments, DM’s whatever it might be and aim to give them full percent of my time if there are any questions or queries. I’ve built a community with a zero-hate speech policy, and Instagram/TikTok allows me to do this as they have many features that help monitor and control it. I’ve activated these settings so I am made aware if anything like this was to occur, and thankfully so far it hasn’t and I’ve been able to distribute and create my content in a free concise manner accessible for all.
I am very flexible when it comes to producing my content, I try different approaches and different methods when it comes to uploading. For instance, I’ve heavily tried to make my content more personalised by doing almost vlog-like type videos, helping guide people on their journey and trying to get them to adopt the right mindset when participating in the method.
I’ve also compared and contrasted myself to many other similar content creators in the same field to improve my skills. For instance, @jordon.ferrone is an influencer in this space, and a lot of the inspiration behind this project came from him and his content. He originally gave me the motivation to embark on this challenge of having an ice bath every single day for 100 days (currently at day 76). However, while he documents his ice bath journey, I knew I also had to contrast myself and wanted to offer something different, and that’s why with my content I provided info and feedback not just on ice baths, but also the breathing techniques and the Wim Hof Method as a whole. I draw inspiration from his content but also refine my strategy and align to effective trends and what’s been working for me (Moore, 2023). I’ve enjoyed every minute of creating the content I’ve created, and although there will always be a bias towards my own work, I always strive for a level of neutrality and make sure my content is accessible to all.
