This semester has particularly been a big learning curve for me in regards to the content I’ve been creating and curating for my BCM114 Digital Artefact. Having done music production for my DA concept and publishing my content through streaming services such as Spotify, Soundcloud and Apple music, has allowed me to build an audience not just within the BCM114 cohort but attract listeners from all over the world as well. I decided to use this concept for my digital artefact as it is something, I am very passionate and knowledgeable in and have already developed pre this course.
So, far this semester I have produced and crafted 2 new tracks, which have successfully fulfilled the ideating and FIST process and helped me to achieve a process in which has benefited my skills on a personal level and allowed me to engage with my audience more on a personal level also. Not only this, I have seen rapid growth in my monthly listeners and social media followers across all platforms which has provided me with the confidence to keep pursing this, even at the commencement of this course.

Based on my proposed research I conducted into my already present audience, I came to the conclusion that this semester I will be producing two different pieces of music, and analysing my audience’s response to these. I did this by proposing the following methodology/process, that is: Producing the track which I’d dedicate around 1-2 weeks to fully complete ▶️ Once happy with the final track I would then embark on the album cover design and sketch out designs to my liking ▶️ Once this was complete I would post this on my socials and gain feedback from my audience to gain opinions on what they think ▶️ at the conclusion of this process I will then officially release my track on all my music accounts.
At first, I was not entirely sure that this process would work, however after prototyping this, it was clear to me that this process was valid and effective. For example, my track ‘Mindreader’ I followed this step-by step. I produced the track, crafted my album artwork, gained feedback from my audience, and then officially released the song.

Streams wise the track has also been performing consistently:

Additionally, I followed this same process for my other track ‘Make Night’, which when comparing both tracks, has so far performed better than ‘Mindreader’.

Moreover, the last few weeks I have also been placing a specific emphasis on promoting my works, whilst sticking to the original process of using social media, I decided to prototype and experiment with this by submitting my track to music forums and pages, whom of which have been able to give me shout-outs and gain even more exposure. With the likes of other world-renowned producers following the page such as Timmy Trumpet and Touch Sensitive and other music artists, has provided me with the confidence to push this even further and continuing to keep growing even at the commencement of this course.

Overall, I feel this semester for my DA has been one of growth and I will defiantly be continuing this in the future. A summary of my artist page and audience can be found below, but having reflected on the achievements I’ve made so far this semester, I am very excited for what the future has to bring!
