BCM114 Beta

The DA in which I have been curating and working on this semester is called Zuso music, which as previously stated in my pitch, involves me producing my own electronic music productions and distributing these through platforms such as Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple Music Etc. Throughout the course of producing the content I have been creating and uploading, I decided to use the following process to better engage with my audience. That is, posting and gaining feedback from my users by asking for their opinions on aspects such as the Album cover, name and overall mood aesthetic the track is conveying and using this to my own advantage to adjust certain things and gather feedback before the actual track is released.

This has also benefited me in the operational prototyping of my DA, and the music I have been producing thus far as it’s provided me with a consistent process on creating my content and allowed me to gain better insights into my audience’s listening habits and attitudes. For example, this can be exemplified through one of my recent tracks ‘Mindreader’. As shown above I gathered feedback on my album cover design, designed a video animation to better engage my audience and promote my work, and additionally gathered more feedback once the track was out and gained numerous shares and shout outs within this process as well.

I’ve also been able to improve my number of streams and have been added to numerous playlists including a number of Spotify algorithmic playlists and playlists with in excess of 15,000 followers. This has also better allowed me to unpack my audience’s demographic on aspects such as age, gender, location, and other music my audience is engaging with and listening to. The success of this track has also benefited in my follower growth on Instagram starting at 72 followers at the start of my DA and now at 567.

Similarly, I decided to iterate this same process for my most recent track ‘Make Night’, based off the reflection of my last process undertaken with ‘Mindreader’. I followed this same process by gathering feedback on the cover design, quality of the actual track once released and additionally placed a demo on SoundCloud to gain feedback from users and adjust aspects where necessary before official release.

Overall, it is clear to me that this process in which I have been following when producing my content has been consistent and provided me with a foundation on how to better interact with my audience and gain feedback on the content I am making. The success so far has been great with even other fellow BCM114 students asking if they can use my music in their DA’s.

Thus, this is why I will continue to follow this process and iterate accordingly based off feedback my audience presents for my future tracks and upcoming music.
